We often use the term whiteheads and blackheads when referring to the presence of dirt & bumps in our pores. What really is the difference between whiteheads and blackheads? Are these terms even interchangeable?
I have to be honest with you guys. At first, I don't really know the difference between the two. So, I did some research to help you (including me) to figure out what are their differences.
Here at Niniko, we would like to help you not only by finding the right product to use on your skin, but also on how to deal with your skin problems.
Blackheads & whiteheads are both results of clogged pores. The difference lies in whether the pore is open or closed. For blackheads, pores are stretched & opened. So why is it called "blackhead"? It is because of the black color that you see on the surface. It comes from accumulated oil, bacteria & dead skin cells that get stuck in your pores. Gross! Whiteheads are also clogged pores but unlike blackheads, pores are not stretched and open, therefore they are also called closed comedone.
Now, that everything is clear with the difference between whiteheads & blackheads, what can you possibly do to remove them? Aside from doing facials, here are some steps which will help you reduce those pesky backheads & whiteheads.
- Change your diet by including high protein foods & antioxidant-rich foods to help achieve clearer skin.
- Drink supplements like Vitamin C, Vitamin E or Omega-3 which contain antioxidants to help you achieve brighter & healthier skin.
- Perform your skincare routine. Washing your face regularly & using toner unclogs pores to reduce blackheads & whiteheads.
- And lastly, HANDS OFF on your face! Touching it will only transfer more bacteria & dirt to your face.
